Project Management Credential
Pretty much every industry you can think of needs project managers to ensure things run smoothly. Project managers are typically responsible for planning, organizing, and directing projects from start to finish. They ensure that company projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
There are two types of project management credentials that you can earn: the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Here are the requirements for the CAPM:
- Earn a high school diploma or an associate’s degree, or equivalent
- Complete 23 hours of project management education
- Complete 1500 hours of project management experience
- Pass a 150-question exam
- Pay a fee of $405 to $555
And, here are the requirements for the PMP:
- Possess a high school diploma, associate’s degree, or equivalent
- Complete 35 hours of project management education
- Work 4500 hours in project management
- Pass a 200-question exam
- Pay a fee of $405 to $555
Once you earn your credentials, you can hang up your diploma for display.

Human Resource Certification
If you’re employed in the human resources field, earning a certification can show potential employers that you’re serious about moving up in your career path.
Many people who earn HR certifications eventually go on to become chief human resource officers. While there are several different HR certifications you can earn, the most prestigious ones are the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
To earn your PHR, you need:
- At least two years of HR experience and a bachelor’s degree, OR:
- At least four years of HR experience, OR:
- At least one year of HR experience and a master’s degree
To earn your SPHR, you need:
- A minimum of seven years of experience in HR, or:
- A minimum of five years experience in HR and a bachelor’s degree, or:
- A minimum of four years experience in HR with a master’s degree
Once you meet these eligibility requirements, you can sit for a 90-question exam that takes two hours.
